The 7th ASEAN5+J Workshop 2025

The 7th ASEAN5+J Workshop was held on October 22nd, 2025 in Kobe, Japan.  This workshop is being held by five ASEAN countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines) and Japan to exchange information on national policies, legal and regulatory trends, and industry responses regarding energy efficiency and conservation, and refrigerant conversion, etc. for air conditioners.

This was the seventh time, following Kobe in 2018, Bangkok, Thailand in 2019, Malaysia (online) in 2021, Jakarta, Indonesia in 2022, Hanoi, Vietnam in 2023, and Manila, Philippines in 2024.  This time, JRAIA hosted the event in person in conjunction with Kobe Symposium.

Following the opening remarks by Mr. Okada, President of JRAIA, Mr. Imamura, Director of Fluoride Gases Management Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (video), and Mr. Iino, Director of Office of Fluorocarbons Control Policy, Ministry of the Environment gave keynote speeches on Japan's policies and initiatives regarding refrigerant conversion.

After that, Japan (JRAIA), Thailand (FTI-Aircon Club), Malaysia (MACRA), Indonesia (GABEL), Vietnam (VISRAE), and the Philippines (PAIA) reported on their efforts on refrigerant conversion and energy conservation in each country.  In the following thematic discussion session, participants exchanged opinions on how to promote energy conservation for air conditioners, followed by the signing of MOU among the 6 countries.

Finally, it was agreed that the next workshop would be hosted by FTI and JRAIA in Bangkok, Thailand next autumn, and the workshop concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Okada, JRAIA.
